Liyuan Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology is the budget management unit of the National Health Commission and the affiliated comprehensive teaching hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It was built and opened on July 1, 1981, and is the only "geriatric hospital" in Hubei Province. In 1997, it was merged into Tongji Medical University and became the third affiliated Hospital and the third Clinical College of Tongji Medical University. In 2000, Huazhong University of Science and Technology merged with Tongji Medical University, and the hospital was officially renamed Pear Garden Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
